“Killer Freaks From Outer Space” go Viral

June 25, 2011 by

killerfreaks

Ubisoft recently started a viral marketing campaign for their upcoming shooter Killer Freaks From Outer Space. The official page now features fake newscasts, testimonies and other stuff to get your paranoia on and generate buzz in the Wii U exclusive. While I’m still more concerned about how the game will control than anything else, at least the site is pretty well done and even features a fake UNIX prompt to access files with.

Oh, and feel free to insert a generic X-Files “The truth is out there!” kinda reference here.

Official Frontier Gate Site Launched

June 24, 2011 by

frontier

The official site for tri-Ace’s new PSP RPG Frontier Gate has been launched. The new site (which will receive further updates until the game releases) shows off three new characters and several new screenshots. The characters are: Mariashalte, who sports purple hair and a huge lance; Emilio, a settler from Eiburo carrying a sword; and Kurotaki, a black-wearing, Katana-wielding foreigner with a strong will. While the game certainly looks like a clone of Monster Hunter, the battle system is a traditional round-based one. Frontier Gate is slated for release on the PSP some time 2011 in Japan and will probably take a bit longer to arrive overseas.

Resident Evil: Revival Selection Resurfaces

June 23, 2011 by

revival

Back in May, Capcom announced Resident Evil: Revival Collection, which was to bring Resident Evil 4 and Code Veronica X to the Xbox 360 and PS3 with updated HD visuals. But since then, not much has been heard about it. Until today that is, as Capcom officially announced the Japanese release date to be September 8th. The game will ship on 1 BluRay Disc (PS3) and 2 DVDs (Xbox 360) and will cost 4.490 Yen (~$55).

While I don’t care about what feels like the 28th re-release of Resident Evil 4, it’s nice to see that Code Veronica is getting some love. No details on an international release date have been given as of yet, but I’m pretty sure we won’t have to wait until 2012 for the collection to hit the West.

Diablo 3 Beta to Start in August?

June 23, 2011 by

diablo3

Apparently, Blizzard is going to hold a press event some time in July, to announce the begin of the Diablo 3 beta. While this is Blizzard we’re talking about here, it should be fairly safe to say that the beta, which has been known about since May, will follow shortly after the event. Let’s hope the finished game isn’t too far away either.

Sequel to Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime Detailed

June 22, 2011 by

slime

It’s been known that a sequel to 2006′s Nintendo DS game Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime is on it’s way since March, but now some info and screens were finally released. Just like the main gameplay, the large-scale battles of the previous game will remain intact, although this time the giant tanks will be replaced by ships waging war on the open sea. It’s not sure if the game will be released internationally at this point, but seeing as how the previous game was met with a warm reception and the main Dragonquest series is seeing one international DS release after another, it seems pretty likely that Rocket Slime will set course for Western territories as well. Walk the plank Hit the jump for some screenshots.

Level 5 to Develop Professor Layton Social Game with DeNA

June 22, 2011 by

layton

Yesterday, Level 5 announced a partnership with Japanese Social Mobile Games Company DeNA to create a Professor Layton Social Game. It will be a crossover with DeNA’s Kaitou Royale franchise, but set in the Layton universe. Not many specific details have been given, but players will be seperated into 3 roles: Detective, criminal, civilian. The aim of the game is to figure out the true intention of your fellow players, while fulfilling your given role. With more and more major developers starting to develop social games, one has to wonder if Facebook will at some point actually be a legit gaming platform.
