I love the Need for Speed series. Well, except for Pro Street. The police chases in Most Wanted were fantastic, and it looks like Need for Speed developers Black Box loves them too, so much that they made a whole multiplayer mode based on car chases. The mode is called “Cops and Robbers,” and its basically capture the flag except with cars. 2 teams of 4 cars have a “package” that must be picked up by your team and dropped off at a “safehouse” while the other team tries to stop you in anyway possible. Sounds fun Black Box! Now bring back Underground car customization.

On October 21, around 2 PM Pacific Time, Bioware and Lucasarts will announce a new game. The screen above shows the invitation to an unveiling of the game. Rampant speculation about what the actual game will be include a new MMORPG based on the Knights of the Old Republic series that was on Xbox, a sequel to Knights of the Old Republic, or a totally new IP based on the New Republic Star Wars universe. Either way, Bioware’s history of games have been pretty much solid gold (Sonic was actually pretty good!) and Lucasarts knows how to use the Star Wars franchise to their advantage (ie. The Force Unleashed), so I’m really looking forward to this announcement. Then again, so is everyone else still drooling over Leia’s slave bikini outfit.

Many of you readers out there are probably aware of a game called DOTA that is available as a downloadable map for Warcraft III and its expansion, The Frozen Throne. Heck, a song was even written about it. I myself have had many a great nights LANing it up with friends for hours. Well, there’s good news for all you fans of the RTS RPG genre.
Riot Games, led by the developers who first created the DOTA mod, are creating their own standalone game called League of Legends (LOL – pun intended!), which will have many of the same elements found in DOTA, with a few changes of course. Instead of individual units to control, you get a Summoner avatar that controls troops that fight for you. The Summoner gains levels and items during a game and loses them after the game ends; however, the Summoner is carried on to the next game.
I’m pretty excited for this game, if only because I love DOTA, but it just goes to show that you don’t need a $100 million dollar budget to make a good game. I’m looking at you Halo.

Note: Camera DS Not Picture Above
Rumors have been flying around all week about a new DS that has been in development by Nintendo. Well, it appears that those rumors might actually have some merit, and anyone who decided to shell out money for the new Metallic Silver DS might find their money wasted on old tech.
MCV, a British video game publication, believes that the new MP3 compatible DS with built in camera will be announced at 12:00 AM EST tonight during Nintendo’s press event in Japan today. MCV claims that their source is “impeccable,” though the source remains annonymous. As with all rumors, you might want to take this news with a grain of salt, but I’m interested to see how Nintendo and other software developers utilize the new camera on the DS.

9 unannounced titles exclusive to the PS3 have been announced to be revealed at TGS in less then two weeks. One of these titles, Demon’s Souls, developed by From Software (developers of the Armored Core series), was announced today in the latest issue of Famitsu.
Demon’s Souls is described as an action-RPG game and from the looks of the screenshot from the magazine, it looks like it may have some pretty epic boss battles. It will be a playable title at TGS, so we will find out just how it plays there.
