HALL OF SHAME: Wii MUSIC, PART DEUX

September 16, 2008 by

In case the last video I posted last week didn’t scare you enough, I’m giving you another one. Gametrailers has given us another treat from Wii Music. We can control a dog and we can control a cheerleader. We can do ANYTHING!

I’m not sure but the last time I checked, cheerleaders weren’t shouting “pretty” at a testosterone packed, sweat producing team.

SPORE PIRACY UP. WHO KNEW?

September 15, 2008 by

1up.com has recently reported on the surge of pirated copies being downloaded online. According to numbers from Big Champagne, a P2P research firm, “spore has been illegally downloaded via BitTorrent 171,402 times since September 1 — meaning downloads began a full week before the game was even released.”

Despite the uproar of protest from gamers on the DRM issue, EA has stood by their decision. “EA has not changed our basic DRM copy protection system. We simply changed the copy protection method from using the physical media, which requires authentication every time you play the game by requiring a disc in the drive, to one which uses a one-time online authentication.”

As tempted as I am to obtain an illegal copy myself, I can’t help but to see that Best Buy is 5 minutes from my office. I may not agree with EA’s DRM policy but the game is too innovative to short the creators. Plus the thought of paying money to make penis characters? How can can I pass that up?

HALL OF SHAME: Wii MUSIC

September 10, 2008 by

Living in the video game era of music interaction, we thrive ourselves on kicking ass in such titles as Rock Band and Guitar Hero. Seeing the popularity of this new genre, companies have been launching titles to compete against the “ultimate two” but have often come up short. Battle of the Bands just couldn’t cut it and I don’t know if anyone got a peek at Major Minor’s Majestic March but…. yea…

But the ultimate epic FAIL has to go to Wii Music. With its dramatic intro at E3, we all thought we’d see a boy in a green tunic explode onto the screen or perhaps Kid Icarus flying across the stage to dazzle us all. The wide eyed Wii owners clasped their hands together in hope for just one, JUST ONE title that would knock the dust off the white box.

No.

We raised our eyes and we gasped at the sight of Miyamoto playing the.. the cowbell? What?!

Yes, it was the most disappointing, most shocking, most embarrassing moment for Nintendo at E3 this year and the videos for this game have only gotten worse over time.

New preview videos were released yesterday and I behold to you, courtesy of GameTrailers, WiiMusic with a dog.

A dog.

A freakin’ dog.
