New beginnings can be tough. Sometimes you say goodbye to friends, things you love, and things you’ve built. I had to do this when I left Wisconsin for a job in Texas, and again when I left Texas to join a publisher in California.
This time I’ll be starting something new as an Editor at IGN.
August 1st, 2011 will be my first day in the Guides department and I want to make sure that I give my full attention to the position. I know some of you are sad to see this project come to an end, but I will not be fading away. I’m just moving my work to a new location.
In this new project I’ll be joining an incredibly talented group of individuals and I can’t wait to bring my skills to the table. It will definitely be an exciting time.
When I came to San Francisco I promised myself one thing. That I would do as much as I could in the time I was here. I would see the ocean, see all the city had to offer, and take every opportunity to get out and experience anything new that came my way.
This will undoubtedly be one of those new adventures that I will happily take on.
Below I’ve added a list of places you can find my work in the future, the most important being the My IGN link where you can see all of the work I’ll be doing.
Thank you for all of the support that you’ve given The Daily DL since I began this project back in 2007. It wasn’t until after leaving ScrewAttack that I was able to give it my full attention, and I’m happy to have had the opportunity to bring you the content found on this website during that short time. However, it’s time for one of those new beginnings and during this transition all I can ask is one more thing.
That you accept my thanks and wish me luck.
Thank you.

You are the man Destin. I will follow you anywhere as long as you still make penis jokes
Ah, you’re going to be part of IGN and your site will not continue anymore?
I guess that’s too bad for the site BUT I’m glad that you have a new job for IGN. I clearly understand and I’m happy for you and goodluck to your new job!
Now I’m wondering if you’ll going to be infront of the camera for certain shows of IGN or you’re most likely just in the office?
Thanks, Destin! Goodluck!
when i saw the ign logo my hand went straigth to my face and i was like awww, but i guess the whole goal of a job is to get money, good luck in all your future endeavors, i will follow you there
I wish you the best Destin. =D
Good luck at IGN, Destin. I wish you nothing than the best. Seeing how you’ve been given all of these great opportunities is just a proof of how a great person you are, both socially and professionally. I know you’ve got a bright future ahead of you.
Once again, I thank you for everyone you’ve done for us.

Wow, that’s a great position. I knew it had to be something like that if there was a no compete policy like you said on Output Output. Have fun and good luck!
Wow, that’s really good Destin, IGN is gonna be AWESOMES!!! Good luck dude…
Hard news never been the same without you.
Good luck man.
The guides department? Fuck yes! That is the only part of IGN I actually go to! I do find it a bit odd to see you go there after they kinda ripped off Hard News with The Daily Fix, but whatever, I’m happy for you man. Good luck Destin. I know we’ll still hear from you eventually, but it won’t be the same.
And if the guys over at IGN give you trouble, the DL fans and the g1s have always got a place for you if you need it.
Now Destin can become the host for IGN’s The Daily Fix, I would love to see him on it.
Congrats on the new job man. I look forward to seeing your work.
Aaaaawwwwwyyyyyyyeeeeeeaaaaaaa!!!
Good luck with your new work,i think is a great opportunity for you to be in something you love.
Good luck Destin! Does this mean your leaving Frogster? Can’t wait to read up on what you do at IGN.
Not to be mean but.IGN really? the WORST gaming website in the world well not in the world but u know what i mean. idk maybe u can change that.well anyways good luck Destin with your new job have fun with it :)
@Killspreegaming take your conspiracy theories elsewhere. Moving 2,000 miles away made it rather difficult to be on SideScrollers or host a news show. As for not mentioning ScrewAttack, take a look at a few of the following mentions.
I had Jared on Output Output
I guest stared on Retro Hunters
I sat with the guys at E3
I held a contest with SA while at Frogster
I joke around regularly with the guys on Twitter and Facebook
and I’m sure I could come up with many more examples.
Hardly ever mentioning ScrewAttack? No. I mention them all the time. You’re just hardly listening.
@killspreegaming
Hasn’t mentioned ScrewAttack? Maybe you missed the podcast where he had Jared, y’know the guy from ScrewAttack, on. Or maybe you missed the Output Output episode where everyone talked about their favourite websites and Destin mentions SA again. As for saying he’s doing the same job as he was at ScrewAttack, either you skimmed through the post or just jumped down to leave a comment because Destin clearly states:
“August 1st, 2011 will be my first day in the Guides department”
That doesn’t look like he’s taking Chobot or whoever is hosting the Daily Fix’s position. He’s working in the guides department, something completely different. And Destin, before you jump in and saying you can fight your own battles, I’m perfectly aware of that. But this guy needs to be put in his place. Basically accusing Destin of having any hard feelings against ScrewAttack is complete bullcrap.
Good luck, Destin in your new line of work. Now to register to IGN.
I don’t wanna be mean, but doesn’t it seem a little strange that he leaves screwattack and says there are no hard feelings between them. Than he goes on hardly ever mentioning screwattack ever again, basically doing the same job here that he was doing there (hardnews, and a podcast much like sidescrollers). I don’t know Destin, something seems fishy here..
Awww man.. :(
At least IGN is somewhat respectable ya.
