I never thought that I would be writing the following words, but alas, here we are.
My last day at ScrewAttack will be on March 4th, 2011.
It’s been a short three years at ScrewAttack, which for me have flown by. In that time, I’ve been lucky enough to be part of an amazing community, work with some of the coolest people in the industry, and even make some new friends.
Starting there almost felt like a fluke. Craig and Tom were looking to start a video game news show and it just so happened that some guy on GameTrailers with an ugly bed sheet hanging in the background was doing just that. They had held interviews, but for some reason Craig said to himself “Hey. Let’s give this guy a shot.”
I don’t know why he did, but I will be forever grateful.
Without ScrewAttack’s support, I wouldn’t be where I am today, and honestly you probably wouldn’t be here reading this blog. I’m happy that you came though, and I owe a thank you to everyone that’s supported me over the years.
I won’t be able to provide content for ScrewAttack anymore, mainly because I’ve accepted a job in San Francisco, and geography simply won’t allow me to host a show that’s 3,000 miles away. Damn you geography! I will, however, be posting my own content including daily videos, blogs, and more, right here on TheDailyDL.com. I have some things planned so keep an eye out and if you’re ever wondering what I’m up to now; I’m just a click away.
Yes I’m still going to be around, but this is a farewell to ScrewAttack. Thank you Ben, Chad, Craig, Bryan, Jose, Jared, Adam, Corey, Kristen, Angel, Nick, and especially the community for everything that you’ve given me.
I know that I’m walking away with more good memories than I can count. I hope I was able to make you laugh, and maybe even form a few good memories of your own.
Farewell for now, but let’s be honest. I’ll be seeing you soon.

Destin has a penchant for video games and sarcasm. He's written for ScrewAttack, Destructoid, and GoNintendo, but has also produced episodes of the Video Game Vault series for Gametrailers, and created, produced, and edited every episode of The Armory on IGN. To put it mildly, he knows his shit. 
I’m sad to see you leave the ScrewAttack team, but glad that you will be continuing your own thing here.

i’ve been on Screwattack since the very beginning and i have to say my favourite moment had to be when you came on to the site ever since i’ve been a massive fan of yours and always considered you to be my favourite member of the Screwattack family so i’ll still keep up to date on all your antics. and will definitely be bookmarking this site, Screwattacks gonna feel so different without having you point at me every week but i still love the guys at screwattack but it will feel alot different , just wish you the best of luck on all your endeavors i know you’ll kick ass in san Francisco, thank you for all your journalistic efforts these past 3 years, make us G1′s proud

Thank you so much for everything, Destin. You and Corey came in in the wake of the most controversial event at ScrewAttack, and you and your point calmed everyone down on Hard News. I’ll stick around here, but I’m a g1 first and a DL user second, just so ya know.
Destin, you have always been great to watch. You could tell how much work you put into Hard News and The Armory and you shall be missed.
I have to ask though, is the real reason your leaving due to that incident at the beginning of the month? I mean i can understand how shooting Jared might make a professional atomosphere difficult but surely it didn’t upset him that much?

Best of luck to you. It sucks that you are leaving as I looked forward to the Armory and the Hard News videos. This was the only reason why I would visit the site unfortunately. Hope you keep up with the Armory vids as I really enjoyed them.

Ive been on SA for about 2 months now and my favorite part has and always be Hard News. but not just that i liked your armoury show also….
If i can be so bold are u able to make at least 1 more entry into the armoury? and maybe go a round in the SA mafia forum game? because that would make a lot of peoples years. (especially mine if my armoury idea goes through).

I am saddened by the fact that Hard News, Sidescrollers, and ScrewAttack as a whole will never be the same without you.
But on the other hand; I’m happy over the fact that you’re moving forward in you’re career as you rightfully should.
I’m sure every single g1 agrees with me on this, you have given us three wonderful years of entertainment at ScrewAttack and we hope you’ll have a marvelous time in San Francisco and over at you’re new job. ^___^

And I agree with the other guys here that you’ve pretty much become a friend in ways. I’m incredibly pissed at myself that I wasn’t familiar with the screwattack family when I was at SGC 2009. I went for AVGN and I knew Craig’s VGV’s plenty. But it wasn’t till after that that I was on the home site. I would have introduced myself if I knew back then.

Watching Hard News was one of my favorite parts of the day. Screwattack won’t be the same without your sense of humor and your occasional fits of anger. Lines like “Microsoft apparently hasn’t watched enough episodes of Hard News to know that Kinect is giant piece of shit”, and your comment about the new Transformers Dark Of The Moon game “I’m guessing if you play the game backwards even saying would say that it’s going to suck” could only be delivered the way you do them. Today is truly a sad day.

Some people gave you some shit on your first VGV with Craig (the one with the hidden message.) but you pulled through and managed to reach up and rise above it to become who you were for this past 3 years.

Destin, I waited a bit to post this so I could put some thought into what I said. I’m posting it here because up front I want to say I am a huge fan of your work and will continue to be in all your future endeavours.
First off, I’m going to say when I heard the news I was immediately very disappointed. On a personal note, your presence on ScrewAttack was without a doubt my favourite part.
I still remember watching your debut video, and your growly one-line, “It’s showtime”, and I thought “who the hell is this jerk?” ScrewAttack had been what it was before you and I liked it, and then for them to pump up this new personality with no warning, I had no idea what to expect. I was resistant to the change.
Then over time of course, your personality shined through and I found myself thinking, “damn, I relate to this guy more than any of the others.” Through Hard News, through SideScrollers, through the clip of the week, man, it was great to watch you. Your sense of humour clicks completely with mine, especially on SideScrollers, without a doubt my favourite contribution of yours and the one I will miss the most. You just hanging out with the other guys. Over time you obviously matured and got better at everything you do. You even interviewed Dave Mustaine!
Now you’re moving on, and dammit, I’m resistant to the change again. Someone said it best when they said you’ve become a huge part of a lot of people’s daily routine over three years, and the idea that this will suddenly be gone or different is hard to fathom right now! We love Daily Destin!
But again, for all of the things I said above, obviously you were recognized for all of the things we love about you. ScrewAttack will go on and I will still remain a fan of everyone there, but I wanted to say I can’t wait to see what you do next because I dig what you do. You have a great story that I know a lot of people can relate to, trying to find your way in the world, going to school and still feeling unsure, but like a great story you kept doing your thing and got a shot at something bigger and made the most of it. Now you’re only getting better at what you do. How it should be!
Your professional, educated, informed personality makes you an obvious candidate for any sort of gaming/journalism position but your relaxed and goofball humour day-to-day personality seems totally approachable! Fans dig your on air and off air character and that is hard to achieve. You seem like the kind of person you could totally hang out and have a beer with. Keep on doing your thing and you’ll go far.
Anyway, to wrap up this novel, I look forward to seeing what’s next for you Destin and I know I speak for a lot of people when I say I’m with you 100%. Congratulations on your new opportunity, it’s showtime once again!

I will be without internet for the next couple weeks due to moving so I guess this will be my final farewell. You were definitely one of the funniest if not the funniest people in Screwattack. It’s going to be real hard to fill your shoes. It will for sure not be the same without you.
