According to website Kotaku, Nintendo has officially unveiled their newest version of the DS, called the DSi. They’re conference is taking place right now in Tokyo Japan so stick around and hit refresh. I’ll be updating as news is revealed. Specs have been announced and will follow soon. The new DS should look exactly like the current model, but be thinner and have no GBA slot. The screen will now be 3.25 inches and there are 2 cameras, one of which is VGA res. The new model can also adjust pitch and playback making it “ideal for language study, and listening to music.”
The DSi will also feature an SD memory card slot, making picture taking possible, as well as an internet browser, where you can download games and keep them on the DSi. (Does this mean a built in hard drive or will it all be on the SD card?)
The DSi will download games from the DSi shop that will offer DSiware that will range from 200 to 500 Wii points and premium titles for 800 points. The DSi will come with 1000 free points that users can spend at the DSi Shop. The points will be good until March 2010.
The handheld has a street date of November 1st in Japan and will retail for approximately $179 USD.
