Here’s some more Dragon’s Dogma for you. Capcom revealed some information about the different classes you can choose in their upcoming Xbox360/PS3 fantasy adventure game. The three base classes are Fighter, Strider and Mage, with Strider being the quick and nimble class that uses bows and arrows to attack from a distance (Fighter and Mage should be self-explanatory, really). When you level up enough, you’ll get access to the advanced classes Warrior, Ranger and Sorcerer respectively. These are pretty much just improved versions of the base classes, giving you more health, range and access to better spells etc. While only having three classes plus their advanced counterparts seems a bit anemic, you’re not limited to these three choices, as you can mix and match your own custom class. Capcom will release more info on this system in the next few days.

Capcom Japan released a batch of new screenshots today, showing off one of the bigger monsters players will be fighting in their upcoming open world fantasy game Dragon’s Dogma. Lurking in dungeons at the beginning of the game, would-be adventurers will have to fight the Chimera, the creature from Greek mythology that’s part lion, part goat and has a snake for a tail. While it’s a lot bigger than your average human adventurer, it’s very quick and nimble, forcing the player to coordinate with his other party members to force it into a corner and take it down. The thing looks quite badass, so hit the jump and take a look for yourself.

The retro-style platformer adventure game La Mulana has been released on WiiWare in Japan today. For those of you who don’t know, La Mulana was a game originally released for Windows PCs in 2005 that tried to emulate the graphical style of old MSX games. You took control of a whip-wielding archeologist, exploring caves, fighting enemies and seeking items in the vein of Metroid or Castlevania. While the WiiWare re-release ditches the low resolution and 16-bit color palette typical for old MSX games in favor of shiny new graphics, the gameplay is to stay intact, including the “NES-hard” difficulty. While no US release date has been confirmed as of yet, chances are good that Nintendo will bring this little retro gem overseas. I for one can’t wait.
