Lost Winds comes to iOS and Android

lostwinds

Lost Winds was one of the first titles out the gates when WiiWare launched back in May of 2008. The game itself is known as one of the better titles available on the service and even got a sequel in Lost Winds: Winter of the Melodies ;however, being a WiiWare exclusive has kept the series out of many people’s hands due to the stigma that comes with the normally poor quality of software available on the service.  Frontier Development seems to seek to change that by releasing Lost Winds on both iOS and Android later this year.  The game will have touch screen controls to replace the Wiimote as well as a virtual joypad for character movement.  No word yet on an exact release date or pricing yet but expect the game in the app store soon.

I’m not so sure how I feel about the game working with a virtual joypad but if they implement it right this game could be great for the platform.  I was a big fan of the series on WiiWare and I would high suggest checking it out if you havent already.

Pokemon Say Tap announced for iOS and Android.

July 6, 2011 by

Nintendo of Japan has announced that the Pokemon franchise will be coming to the apple app store and the android market this summer in Japan. The game is named “Pokemon Say Tap” and is said to be a rhythm based game where players tap Pokemon cards to the beat of music. The game will also be available for free on both platforms. When asked if other Nintendo franchises would be appearing on these platforms as well Nintendo of Japan spokesmen Yasuhiro Minagawa stated “Nintendo’s strategy to develop software only for its own hardware hasn’t changed and won’t change”. No word on any North American release of the title as of yet.

Kinda crazy to think that people in Japan can soon play a Pokemon game on the Sony Xperia Play. Hopefully we will eventually get the title stateside as well.

Marathon Comes to iPad FOR FREE!

June 24, 2011 by

Bungie

In an interview posted yesterday on Bungie.net, Daniel Blezek, an independent developer, talked about bringing Bungie’s classic to iOS via the Apple iPad. He discussed the issues and challenges of bringing the nearly seventeen year old game to the touchscreen device. Daniel stated that he began working on the port when the iPad was first released back in 2010 and that the game could hit the App Store soon.

Also addressed during the interview were the controls. According to Blezek, they spent a lot of time trying to find a proper control scheme for the game. These included a virtual joystick for movement, the action button under that, primary and alt fire buttons, and weapon switching buttons among others.

Bungie, obviously, has given their support to the effort and iPad users can expect to see Marathon on the App Store sometime soon at no charge. Bungie has promised to let players know when it’s ready.

Oh, and the game is going to be FREE!
