Capcom Addresses Resident Evil Save Issues

The Mercenaries 3D

You’re probably aware by now that some people are having a problem with Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D for the 3DS. When you begin the game, there’s no turning back and one cannot restart their saved game if they want to start over. This has come off as a ploy to discourage used game purchases. Some are upset by this while others could care less.

Well, today Capcom has made a statement about the game saves for The Mercenaries 3D. On the Capcom forums, a statement was released saying that it was a design decision to allow everyone to access content and that the sale of used games were not a factor in deciding this.

After the post was made, they promised to try to answer as many questions as possible about the game.

‘In Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, all mission progress is saved directly to the Nintendo 3DS cartridge, where it cannot be reset. The nature of the game invites high levels of replayability, encouraging fans to improve upon mission scores. The save mechanic ensures that both original and unlocked game content will be available to all users. Secondhand game sales were not a factor in this development decision, and we hope that all our consumers will be able to enjoy the entirety of the survival-action experiences that the game does offer.’

So, basically if you buy it used, just think of it like going to the arcade in the old days and trying to beat someone else’s score.

Resident Evil: Revival Selection Resurfaces

June 23, 2011 by

revival

Back in May, Capcom announced Resident Evil: Revival Collection, which was to bring Resident Evil 4 and Code Veronica X to the Xbox 360 and PS3 with updated HD visuals. But since then, not much has been heard about it. Until today that is, as Capcom officially announced the Japanese release date to be September 8th. The game will ship on 1 BluRay Disc (PS3) and 2 DVDs (Xbox 360) and will cost 4.490 Yen (~$55).

While I don’t care about what feels like the 28th re-release of Resident Evil 4, it’s nice to see that Code Veronica is getting some love. No details on an international release date have been given as of yet, but I’m pretty sure we won’t have to wait until 2012 for the collection to hit the West.

THE MEGA MAN 9 PRESS KIT (yeah I got one!)

October 1, 2008 by

So if you haven’t heard, Capcom is releasing only 200 copies of the little package seen below.

Well I just happened to get an e-mail over at Capcom-Unity from Snow, the main guy running the site, and he is letting me get my very own copy.  I quickly ran over to the website and for 50 bucks I am now the proud owner of a video game rarity.  If you think you’re going to go buy one then you may be in for a surprise.  The only way you can get it for $50 is with a special code that is sent to your Capcom-Unity inbox.  Capcom….you’re pretty damn awesome.  Hit the jump to read the e-mail, and see what the price is if you don’t have a code.

SCREWATTACK’S OUT OF THE BOX FEATURED ON CAPCOM SITE

September 24, 2008 by

O.K. normally I wouldnt do this, but it’s just too darn cool.  Some of you may know that I work at ScrewAttack, but you may not all know that we just started our first live show called out of the box.  It can only be seen over at ScrewAttack, so if you want to see the show CLICK HERE, or keep an eye on ScrewAttack.com and watch it live!

Anyway, the reason I’m making this post is because Capcom liked this weeks episode so much, they actually posted it up on their community site, and used a quote from me during the Mega Man 9 segment!  OMG KICK ASS!  Anyway I know it’s a shameless plug but if you want to check it out, I don’t think you’ll be disseminated.
