So which one is better? Well over at Nintendo Japan you can compare for yourself, or you can just watch the video above. I don’t know about you, but that new model looks pretty awesome.

According to website Kotaku, Nintendo has officially unveiled their newest version of the DS, called the DSi. They’re conference is taking place right now in Tokyo Japan so stick around and hit refresh. I’ll be updating as news is revealed. Specs have been announced and will follow soon. The new DS should look exactly like the current model, but be thinner and have no GBA slot. The screen will now be 3.25 inches and there are 2 cameras, one of which is VGA res. The new model can also adjust pitch and playback making it “ideal for language study, and listening to music.”
The DSi will also feature an SD memory card slot, making picture taking possible, as well as an internet browser, where you can download games and keep them on the DSi. (Does this mean a built in hard drive or will it all be on the SD card?)
The DSi will download games from the DSi shop that will offer DSiware that will range from 200 to 500 Wii points and premium titles for 800 points. The DSi will come with 1000 free points that users can spend at the DSi Shop. The points will be good until March 2010.
The handheld has a street date of November 1st in Japan and will retail for approximately $179 USD.

During today’s Nintendo Live Conference 2008, Iwata announced that a new Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles that is being developed by Square Enix will be available for both the Wii and the DS(i). They will be able to link with each other, however, details have been scarce about the full capabilities of the link between the Wii version of the game and the DS version of the game.
The full name of the game is Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time. No release date or price has been announced for the game as of yet.

Note: Camera DS Not Picture Above
Rumors have been flying around all week about a new DS that has been in development by Nintendo. Well, it appears that those rumors might actually have some merit, and anyone who decided to shell out money for the new Metallic Silver DS might find their money wasted on old tech.
MCV, a British video game publication, believes that the new MP3 compatible DS with built in camera will be announced at 12:00 AM EST tonight during Nintendo’s press event in Japan today. MCV claims that their source is “impeccable,” though the source remains annonymous. As with all rumors, you might want to take this news with a grain of salt, but I’m interested to see how Nintendo and other software developers utilize the new camera on the DS.

News has trickled in about the upcoming Nintendo DS title that is sure to give Jack Thompson another spot on Fox News as their “expert.” It appears that in addition to the usual car jacking and homicides staple to the GTA series, you can now add “selling illegal narcotics” to the features available in GTA Chinatown Wars. From the screens released it looks like there’s going to be a mini game where you can sell 6 different illegal narcotics that range from acid to the weed. The mini game will allow the player to sell drugs for a profit depending on the location in which they are selling (ie. wherever ecstasy is scarce in a location, you can turn a higher profit then if you sold it in another location that has ecstacy).
