Sony Worldwide Studios President, Shuhei Yoshida recently talked to Gamesindustry.biz regarding many aspects of Sony’s upcoming handheld, the Playstation Vita. In the interview, Yoshida stated that they always had the $249 price point in mind ever since they began planning the Vita about three years ago. Working with the features they wanted to implement and the price they were trying to achieve within budget made them look at every option they had. He stated that this is how their process was different from the PS3. Yoshida also explained where they went wrong with the PSP.
“We were very happy having something very close to the PS2 experience in a portable format with the PSP, but we didn’t do a good enough job creating the proper interface to really play games with graphics in 3D.”
Yoshida points out the Vita’s second analog stick as the result and that the PSP’s graphics were quickly outdated by the player’s comfort with the newer HD consoles. With graphics simply not being enough, he reasoned that interface and innovating it with the touch screen and camera was a focus.
One last thing covered by the interview was Sony’s promise that the transition of developers to the Vita would be smooth and cost-effective.

A recent entry on the Korean ratings board has outed Limbo for the PSN. Limbo was previously released on XBLA during last years summer of arcade event and has since gone on to win the “Technical Excellence” and “Excellence in Visual Art” awards at the 2010 Independent Games Festival.
As a fan of the game I would highly suggest checking it out once it becomes available on the PS3.

Some rumors have been sprouting up regarding a new model of the Playstation 3. This was recently supported by a retailer’s claim that they had the briefing on Sony’s new version of the console. Well, according to the Japanese Playstation website, where it first appeared, some changes are indeed coming for the system.
They are merely hardware tech revisions and will probably go unnoticed by the general consumer, so don’t expect an entirely different PS3. The new model is the CECH-3000B and it features two major changes. The first is a change that reduces the power usage to around 200W from 230W. The other is the drop in weight from 3.0 kg to 2.6 kg making it lighter than before.
It’s priced the same as the current model and the changes are for the 320 GB version only right now. Sony will begin to ship these new versions to retailers as their stock of the current model is purchased up.
Not too much to be excited about unless you’re really interested in tech specs.

Rey Gutierrez over at the PlayStation blog has saved us all from being forced to watch the new Uncharted 3 footage Jimmy Fallon showed. While at E3 Rey ALSO had the pleasure of interviewing someone from Naughty Dog where they talked about the game, and why they’re showing off water in the third installment.
The team never fails to impress and I think it’s safe to say that Uncharted 3 is looking to blow us away when it is released in November.
Hit the jump to check it out.
