Final Fantasy Type 0 will be released in Japan on October 13th and ship on two UMDs. No word on an international release date has been given so far.
And…that’s about all I have to say. No use padding this post out, as people who actually care about this game will already be familiar with it.

Sony Worldwide Studios President, Shuhei Yoshida recently talked to Gamesindustry.biz regarding many aspects of Sony’s upcoming handheld, the Playstation Vita. In the interview, Yoshida stated that they always had the $249 price point in mind ever since they began planning the Vita about three years ago. Working with the features they wanted to implement and the price they were trying to achieve within budget made them look at every option they had. He stated that this is how their process was different from the PS3. Yoshida also explained where they went wrong with the PSP.
“We were very happy having something very close to the PS2 experience in a portable format with the PSP, but we didn’t do a good enough job creating the proper interface to really play games with graphics in 3D.”
Yoshida points out the Vita’s second analog stick as the result and that the PSP’s graphics were quickly outdated by the player’s comfort with the newer HD consoles. With graphics simply not being enough, he reasoned that interface and innovating it with the touch screen and camera was a focus.
One last thing covered by the interview was Sony’s promise that the transition of developers to the Vita would be smooth and cost-effective.

Konami has just revealed two new characters for their Monster Hunter-esque turn-based RPG Frontier Gate, which is being developed by tri-Ace for the PSP, as well as some new screenshots. The new characters will be called Sigrid and Dandes respectively: Sigrid is a female knight from the federation of Kilkenia (spelling subject to change) and wielding a two-handed sword; Dandes is a retired settler who carries around a huge hammer. Think of a funny “Can’t touch this” reference, then hit the jump to see the new characters as well as the new screenshots.

The official site for tri-Ace’s new PSP RPG Frontier Gate has been launched. The new site (which will receive further updates until the game releases) shows off three new characters and several new screenshots. The characters are: Mariashalte, who sports purple hair and a huge lance; Emilio, a settler from Eiburo carrying a sword; and Kurotaki, a black-wearing, Katana-wielding foreigner with a strong will. While the game certainly looks like a clone of Monster Hunter, the battle system is a traditional round-based one. Frontier Gate is slated for release on the PSP some time 2011 in Japan and will probably take a bit longer to arrive overseas.

Peace Walker was the last game that I put into my PSP that I can remember enjoying. I’ve had to review a few titles since then, but none had the same lasting appeal. Now that Konami announced that the game will be getting an HD facelift and coming to the PlayStation 3 I couldn’t be happier. No more cramped hands from holding the controller for hours on end as I build my Metal Gear, train troops, and take my one eyed friend on new adventures.
Now you can check out some gameplay in HD, courtesy of Konami. I cannot wait to play this again on a controller that doesn’t make my hands hurt from cradling my Snake.
OH LIKE YOU DIDN’T SEE THE JOKE COMING.
The trailer can be seen after the jump.

I’ve noticed a trend with the Playstation Network. Sony brings a lot of special titles to it. PixelJunk Eden, Flow, and Flower are all examples of great pieces of software I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing. Swords and Soldiers isn’t a Playstation Network original, having come to WiiWare first, but it’s still something special, clever, and cute that you can now experience if you own a PS3. You can even experience it in 3D!
