The Uncharted bundle will come with Drake’s Fortune and Among Thieves, plus an Uncharted 3 avatar and dynamic theme. The Resistance bundle, comes with, you guessed it, Fall of Man and Resistance 2, along with an exclusive Resistance 3 skin. The Ratchet & Clank bundle will include Tools of Destruction and A Crack in Time, plus it will come with 4 avatars and an exclusive Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One dynamic theme.

I for one think this is a great move on Sony’s part. All three of these franchises are seeing new installments soon and this is a great way to push those new games. I will certainly be taking advantage of that Resistance and Ratchet bundle (I already own the Uncharted’s). Does this get you excited about the new games coming for these franchises? Sony may have denied the 3.0 firmware rumors we talked about on Friday, the PS3 slim, and the price drop many of us are expecting, but one thing they can’t deny is their software sales. Unfortunately PS3 exclusives are selling rather low quantities with only one new property, Resistance: fall of man, breaking a million sales. Uncharted has sold 2.6 million copies worldwide, but included in that number are games that have been bundled with PS3 systems and not off of store shelves. To compare, Gears of War sold a million copies in the first month, and Gears 2 sold 1.56 million units in the first month. Now I didn’t bring this up to bash on sony, but more to ask the same question GameSetWatch.com asked with this study. Has the release of original properties paid off for Sony? The sales would say no, but with sequels like Uncharted 2 coming out this year that could quickly change. Just thought I’d leave you something to think about today

Looks like this years VGA (Video Game Awards) might actually be worth watching. For one, they’re replacing long-time badass host Samuel L. Jackson for musician/actor Jack Black, who also happens to be working on Tim Schaffer’s game, Brutal Legend. For another, long waited news of the PS3-exclusive God of War III will be revealed during the awards ceremony, along with another sequel to a strong PS3-exclusive title, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. And just to add icing on the cake, news of purpotedly publisherless title Brutal Legend will be announced during the show. Also to be announced during the show are some add-ons to Gears of War 2, FIght Night Round 4, Watchmen, Terminator Salvation, and MORE. December 14 at 9, TIVO IT!
